In traditional herbal medicine, the oil is used to treat cold symptoms such as coughing, local muscle pain or local itching [2]. In addition, peppermint extract is used as a flavour enhancer in medicinal products, especially to mask metallic or salty flavours [3].*

The CO2-extract from peppermint leaves is often used as a flavour in the food and beverage industry. It is particularly suitable for flavouring sweets, chewing gum, liqueurs or non-alcoholic soft drinks.*

Due to its use in traditional medicine and its positive properties, peppermint extract is also suitable as an ingredient in food supplements.*

The essential oil of peppermint leaves is often used in cosmetics, especially in personal care products or dental care products, because of its aroma and interesting scent. The oil has a fresh menthol scent with a cooling effect.*
