Utilisation:
In classical Chinese medicine, schisandra fruits are used for chronic cough and asthma, gastrointestinal diseases such as diarrhea, spontaneous sweating, shortness of breath and anxiety with palpitations and insomnia, and generally for disease-related fatigue. Studies indicate a blood sugar-lowering effect, which is why the use of schisandra fruits seems possible for the treatment of diet-related chronic diseases such as diabetes. Schisandra fruit extracts also have antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and liver-protective properties [2,3,4].*
Because of its well-known use in traditional Chinese medicine, it can also be used in food supplements.*
