Utilisation:
In folk medicine, orris root is used to treat respiratory diseases such as bronchitis, asthma and coughing, and nausea. Furthermore, it is said to help against headaches, circulatory weakness and flatulence. However, there is currently no scientific evidence of its effectiveness in these areas [2].*
As flavour, orris root extract can be used in the liqueur industry to prepare fine liqueurs and bitter spirits [2].*
Due to its violet-like odor, the extract is used as a fragrance in soaps, creams, lotions and perfumes [2].*
