Tagetes Flower CO2-to extract
Product-No.: 232.001
Raw Material:
Tagetes erecta / Tagetes patula – Flowers, dried
Production:
By supercritical fluid extraction with natural carbon dioxide, no solvent residues, no inorganic salts, no heavy metals, no reproducible microorganisms [1].
Ingredients:
see specification
Application:
Tagetes extracts have antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. In folk medicine, Tagetes species are used to treat respiratory diseases, gastrointestinal complaints or dental problems [2]. The carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin contained in the extract are part of the macula of the human eye. This is responsible for sharp vision. Lutein and zeaxanthin are only absorbed through food, the body cannot produce the carotenoids itself. In the macula they act as a filter of blue light and as an antioxidant. These photoprotective properties can help to limit damage to the retina [3,4].*
As a colourant for colouring food, such as confectionery, bakery products, seasonings, sauces or beverages.*
In food supplements, the tagetes flower extract acts as a natural source of lutein and zeaxanthin.*
