Application:
The essential oil of nutmeg is used in folk medicine for acute stomach and digestive disorders and flatulence. Externally, the oil is used for diseases of the respiratory tract, rheumatism or sciatica. In India, nutmeg oil is a component of plasters and liniment against chronic rheumatism. In Indochina, nutmeg oil is rubbed on the temple for headaches [2].*
As a spice extract for flavouring foodstuffs, especially bakery products, small pastries, desserts or gherkins, as well as liqueurs (Chartreuse) and spice essences.*
As a fragrance, nutmeg extract is suitable for use in perfumery, fine soap industry and general cosmetics. The oil makes good combinations with sandalwood, lavender and bergamot oil.*
