Thyme is used in herbal medicines to treat respiratory diseases such as bronchitis, whooping cough or inflammation of the upper respiratory tract. The thymol contained in the extract has antiseptic and antimicrobial effects [2,3]. Externally, thyme is used for its antibacterial properties in inflammation of the mouth and throat, inflammatory skin changes, to relieve itching, bruising and dislocation [2,4].*

Thyme extract is suitable as a spice extract for flavouring food, such as Mediterranean dishes, sauces, baked goods. It is also suitable for refining desserts or in herbal lemonades and herbal liqueurs.*

Due to its aromatic-spicy scent and its antimicrobial, disinfectant properties, thyme extract can be used in perfumes, conditioning soaps, creams, shampoos, bath additives and foot baths.*
